AQUON featured in best practice guide for eco-friendly yachting

Our emission-free catamaran “AQUON One” is featured in the 2019 edition of the Best Practices for Eco-friendly Yachting guide by the Sustainable Yachting Network (SYN) in cooperation with the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco.

A showcase for zero-emissions propulsion

AQUON One’s green hydrogen-based energy system is listed as best practice in the propulsion section of the guide for its innovative potential and benefits in terms of its efficiency, as well as for the environment. AQUON One has the potential to run on zero-emissions by producing its own green hydrogen from solar energy, and turning this hydrogen back into electricity whenever needed – with the only exhaust being droplets of hot water.

More independence due to energy-autarky

By using solar energy to generate power on board, and further transforming excess energy into green hydrogen through electrolysis, AQUON One is its own power plant with built-in energy storage.  Fuel cells reconvert the stored hydrogen into energy, powering the silent electric engines of the yacht, as well as any on-board appliances. This allows the catamaran to become independent from fossil fuels and land power supply. You experience pure freedom  when crusising.

About the Sustainable Yachting Network

With a broad experience in the yachting industry, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has launched the Sustainable Yachting Network, along with the Monaco Yacht Club, the Monaco Yacht Show, the Cluster Yachting Monaco and the Ramoge Agreement Secretariat. The initiative’s main goal is to support engaged acteurs from the marine sector and promote environmentally responsible solutions for the yachting industry. SYN wants to help the industry transform into an environmentally responsible economy. The guide on Best Practice in Eco-friendly Yachting covers all major sectors of the industry when it comes to environmental responsibilities. Being distributed at well-known events like the Monaco Yacht Show and the boot Düsseldorf, as well as in various yachting organizations and online, the document becomes a key reference piece for sustainable yachting.
